“If you go slowly enough, six or seven months is an eternity—if you let it be—if you forget old things, and learn new ones. Even a week can last forever.”
Rick Bass, Winter

"In the midst of winter, I finally learned that there was in me an invincible summer."

Day Six: What does a Tripod Dog Do in the Snow?

We had a glorious, protracted golden fall, and the first snows didn't stick until a few days ago.

Normally, Zoe loves the winter, but that was on four legs.  I wasn't sure how she'd do with the cold and with the uneven terrain.

We headed out to Indian Creek with our friend, Pat, and Pat's dog, Cooper, and we found out what three-legged dogs do in the snow.

They walk in it.

And smell stuff.

And beg for treats.

And look for evidence of beavers building lodges.

And enjoy the sunset.

And beg for more treats.

  1. You forgot one thing...What do you need them to do before they head back indoors? Just sayin'.
