“If you go slowly enough, six or seven months is an eternity—if you let it be—if you forget old things, and learn new ones. Even a week can last forever.”
Rick Bass, Winter

"In the midst of winter, I finally learned that there was in me an invincible summer."

This first picture was taken by Tara Freeman at the pup study break/stress reliever for students, on December 9, 2011.  Tara is our university photographer and she's amazing.  She also took my author photo for my memoir.  Throughout the blog are several pictures Tara has taken of Zoe; I always label them as such.

Below, most of the pictures of Zoe on grass were taken by Karen Strauss, who is a dog-lover and wonderful photographer.  Her daughter was one of my students in France.

Some photos were taken in France, and those are pretty obvious.  The puppy pics were taken at the Potsdam Humane Society, before she came home with us, on the day I met her. Love at first sight!

If this was our view all the time, would we get used to it?
