“If you go slowly enough, six or seven months is an eternity—if you let it be—if you forget old things, and learn new ones. Even a week can last forever.”
Rick Bass, Winter

"In the midst of winter, I finally learned that there was in me an invincible summer."

Day 98: Beach Rhapsody in Grey, with Black Dog

Even on an overcast morning there is
much to love about a beach walk with the black dog.

The clouds ride through the sky like waves.

But one cloud looks like a castle fortress with turrets and a moat.

The grey light and grey sand make everything soft and inviting.

And then there is always something unexpected around the corner.

Is a sandcastle a good thing to sit near, to try in vain to make fresh metaphors about, or just to sniff?

When there is so much around us, we don't have to go far to grasp infinity.
